HostNine web hosting plan has never faced the questions from users. This is mainly because; users never need to worry about the performance of the servers. As you can see, everything was greatly improved when we migrated servers to Texas.

Te outcome of the server move was shocking. My only worry, will  someone else get on the server I am on and overuse resources and cause stability issues later on? I’m hoping for the best.

The average response time was 1,445 ms for the month of November for our total all server testing. Take a closer look at November 25th forward though, this was when we moved servers via the Reseller Central Migrate Account function.

As you can see, the results of our server migration helped tremendously. Let’s take a closer look.

The average response time from our US servers was 1,006 ms. From the looks of things, the average response times was a little over 100 ms after the 25th which is amazing. Outages were greatly improved as well, which I will get into in a later post.

As you can see, for HostNine we made some drastic changes to where this account is hosted using HostNine’s migrate account wizard. So far, things have been MUCH better. If anyone is having problems in HostNine’s California servers, definitely consider migrating elsewhere. It has helped GREATLY for us so far.

For the month, the total average for our Non-US testing was 2,031 ms. Of course, if you check AFTER the 25th, you’ll see our results were greatly improved. It will be interesting to see how HostNine does for the month of December after the changes.

Well, October was a bad month for HostNine. Like I said in the last post, I will be doing some research on HostNine to see if I can find anything.

I am shaking my head here. I realize my next post is about server uptime and saw the 97.98% scores. I guess the server I am on is completely unstable too…

Anyway, HostNine scores an F grade on all testing this month.

I am interested to see how HostNine tests in US only traffic. We saw some very poor results from non-US traffic. I sure hope things are a lot better for US only traffic! Let us see…

This doesn’t look any better. I wonder what the average is…

The average response time from HostNine California servers to other US based traffic was 1,419 ms response times for full page loads. We’ve had other hosts test better than this from Non-US traffic this month. In otherwords, a 1,419 ms response time from US to US traffic is very bad.

Over the next coming days, I will need to do some research around HostNine to figure out what in the heck is going on.

As a side note, today making these posts were sort of a pain. Is HostNine going downhill, what’s with the slow server response times?

Anyway, on with our October test results for HostNine. Here we provide the speed tests performed from Non-US based web servers to our main HostNine homepage.

That does not look good! We are using the California HostNine server. Here is the day by day statistics.

Yikes! The average response times from non US servers was 2,528 ms. This is absolutely outrageous! Our final grade for HostNine response times from non-US traffic is an F. If things do not improve, we will strongly consider moving to different servers within the HostNine network.

This is the last post in this series for HostNine testing and scoring.

Now, lets take a look at how HostNine speed tests look! Here’s the HostNine US only traffic graph:

This definitely looks better than our non-US reports. Lets take a look at the day by day chart and see what our average ping response times were for the month of September.

Now that is better! We can live with a 898ms average ping time for US traffic. The only thing though, we have found our MidPhase and HostICan tests prove they are faster for US traffic for the month of September.

I think I will get the direct feedback from HostNine soon regarding this. I would love to hear which servers they think will give us the fastest response times. But for now, I will work on getting the rest of my speed reports done for the other hosts.

Here we will show you what HostNine response times are like for our testing servers pinging and loading this site from other countries throughout the world.

Considering during this same period, our HostICan non-US speed tests scored an average ping response of 1,282, we do not consider these scores very good at all. We think there’s probably too many traceroute hops between our California server and non-US countries. Very surprising.

We hope to see an improvement on this score next month. Perhaps we should move our site to another data center location within the HostNine network. Do any of you visitors have any suggestions?
